Resistence™ consists of vegetarian capsules each containing 100 mg of seven 'raw whole food' mushrooms, grown in a sterile environment on an organic certified farm in one of the cleanest areas of the United States.

The mushrooms are cultivated on a substrate or organic, full corn rice. The valuable nutrients of the substrate are absorbed by the mushrooms. The harvest takes place as soon as the mycelia have overgrown the rice and the fruiting bodies start to develop. In this way the active ingredients of both the mycelia and the fruiting bodies are preserved. After freeze-drying and graining the powder is shipped and encapsulated by Kala Health. 

Resistence™ contains the acitve ingredients of both the mycelia and the young fruiting bodies, bringing the most powerful combination possible.

Biological Active Ingredients

In Resistence™ seven mushrooms have been used with a long tradition of use and scientific research in particularly the Orient. Several hundreds of individual compounds have been isolated in these mushrooms, including a number of familiar compounds like vitamins, minerals and amino acids. The protein content of mushrooms usually varies from 10 to 40% dry weight. Remarkably these mushrooms contain ALL essential amino acids and nearly all non-essential amino acids, as well as nearly all vitamins, minerals and trace elements. As an example, the vitamin B2 content usually varies from 1,8 to 5,1 mg/100 gram dry weight, and the content of vitamin B3 and folic acid between 31-65 resp. 0,36-0,64 mg/100 g dw 1.

Such high levels of vitamins, minerals and amino acids give mushrooms an outstanding nutritional value. On top of this support health, of other ingredients the biological effect is not clear yet. New and promising compounds are still being discovered  and published. Below a summary of the ingredients used in the seven mushrooms of Resistence™:

In 2003 the renowned International Journal of Medicinal Mushrooms published the study results on the active ingredients of several mushroom mycelia, grown on rice.

Important is, these mushroom mycelia all have been supplied by the same organic farm that supplies Kala Health.  In the study individual mushrooms were investigated, but also a combination of seven mushrooms that is identical to the combination used in Resistence™. Thus, the published result are directly applicable to the Kala Health Resistence™ formula.

Muhroom mycelia compounds that gain more and more interest are

  • Polysaccharids (in particular 1,3 and 1,6 beta-glucans): large molecules of complex sugars;
  • Glycoproteïns: complexes of proteins and polysaccharids;
  • Ergosterol:  metabolized into provitamin D2 under the influence of sun light;
  • Arabinoxylanes: metabolized from arabinose en xylose in full corn rice by mushroom mycelia

The importance of Organic Culture: EU Organic Certification

Mushrooms are capable of absorbing almost all ingredients form the substrate they grow on, including those that might be harmful to health. Mushrooms that are grown in a polluted environment may be able to concentrate harmful substances to even toxic levels. Thus, mushrooms have a tendency to reflect the environment they grow in. For this reason no ‘wild’ mushrooms from uncontrolled regions in uncontrolled countries have been used in Kala Health products.

All mushrooms used in Resistence™ are grown organically in one of the cleanest areas in the northwest of the United States. The mushrooms are cultured on a substrate of organic full corn rice under sterile conditions. The valuable ingredients of the rice substrate are absorbed and metabolized by the mushroom mycelia, guaranteeing the highest purity and the highest biological activity. The mushrooms are harvested when the mycelia have overgrown the substrate and small fruiting bodies become visible. In this way the biological active compounds of both the mycelia and the fruiting bodies are collected. After freeze-drying and graining the powder is shipped and encapsulated by Kala Health in vegetarian capsules.

Resistence™ contains the active ingredients of both the mycelia as the young fruiting bodies, the strongest combination possible. The mushroom farm has been organically certified by the Washington State Department of Agriculture, and Kosher certified by the Union of Orthodox Congregations of America. Testing by independent laboratories show the mushroom are guaranteed free of heavy metals, pesticides, chemical residues and bacteria. In Europe this product has been rewarded both the EU Organic Certificate and the EKO Certificate.
